AluaSun Costa Park is a 4 star family-friendly hotel, less than 15 minutes’ drive from Malaga Airport. It’s just under a mile to the long sandy Playamar Beach, but you don’t have to walk as there’s a courtesy bus. On site, there are two freshwater pools, with sunloungers providing the perfect place for grown-ups to relax with a cocktail. Meanwhile the children can have hours of fun in the waterpark, with a pirate ship being just one of the attractions.
There’s plenty of activities for sports enthusiasts too. Challenge a family member to a game of tennis or ping pong, play a round of mini golf or have a leisurely game of pétanque. The choice is yours. For a surcharge you can book a relaxing massage to ease your muscles.
The buffet restaurant offers a combination of traditional Andalusian cuisine and international dishes. They also ensure there’s something for everyone, including vegan options, as well as catering for those who have lactose and gluten intolerances. AluaSun Costa Park houses two bars, allowing you to quench your thirst or grab a light bite between meals. After dinner they’ll also keep you captivated with the evening’s entertainment. The All Inclusive package includes a selection of snacks and Spanish drinks until 11pm but some refreshments incur a surcharge.
Double rooms feature two individual beds and a sofa that can convert into a third bed. The family option can accommodate up to four guests (no more than three adults). Each type boasts satellite TV, WiFi, air conditioning and a balcony or terrace.
If you hire a car, complimentary parking is available. If you prefer to travel with the locals then there are excellent public transport links. You can easily reach Malaga and Fuengirola by train and there’s also a variety of local bus routes within Torremolinos. Don’t miss the Casa de los Navajas palace, that’s free to look around. And if the children can’t get enough of waterslides there’s Aqualand Torremolinos.
You could spend an entire day exploring Malaga with points of interest including the cathedral and a museum showcasing the work of Pablo Piccaso. There’s also a vibrant nightlife scene but don’t miss the last train back (at around 11.30pm). Fuengirola is home to a Moorish castle and more waterparks. Plus there’s the family favourite - Bioparc Fuengirola - a zoo in a recreated jungle environment.
